Dr. Ahmed F. Farrage

Dr. Ahmed F. Farrage is a distinguished international security and governance expert with over 15 years of experience in peacebuilding, counter-terrorism, and security sector reform (SSR). He has made significant contributions to The Stresemann Group, where he advises governments on national security sector development and reform. Dr. Farrage’s expertise encompasses fragility assessments, political economy analysis, disaster risk reduction (DRR), and evaluations of the climate-security nexus, with a strong emphasis on the African continent.

As a key advisor at The Stresemann Group, Dr. Farrage has played a pivotal role in leading Security Sector Reform initiatives designed to enhance institutional resilience and governance. He conducts Full-Fledged Fragility Assessments to identify systemic vulnerabilities, such as youth unemployment, gender disparities, and cross-border crime. His ability to design evidence-based interventions aligned with the Resilience and Fragility Assessment framework has significantly strengthened national security architectures. Moreover, he facilitates high-level stakeholder consultations and capacity-building programs aimed at fostering inclusive governance and sustainable peace, operating under the Humanitarian-Development-Peace nexus.

Dr. Farrage’s work has enabled governments to develop robust security policies, enhance law enforcement capabilities, and counter organized crime and extremism through strategic, data-driven reforms.

His academic credentials include a Master of Laws (LLM) in Public International Law from Cairo University, where he explored the philosophy of work in international organizations. He also obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Criminal Profiling and Crime Scene Analysis from the Forensic Criminology Institute in Sitka, Alaska. Dr. Farrage earned his Ph.D. in Political Science with a focus on Critical Security Studies from Canterbury Christ Church University, where his thesis examined war, peace, and international terrorism in West Africa, concentrating on organized crime, trafficking, extremist financing, and law enforcement counterstrategies. His scholarly journey began with a Master of Science in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the same institution, where he graduated with First Class Honors and a perfect GPA, respectively.
